Question about after effects of IVIg

Postby Rachd99 » Sun Jul 01, 2012 7:18 pm

My four year old son was admitted into the hospital for Kawaski's for three nights and received one round of IVIg. He has been fever-free for 48 hours but he is still having bad headaches from the Ig. Because of the aspirin regimen, I am giving him Tylenol but I am worried that he is still having the headaches. He also looks very pale and is extremely fatigued. Is this normal after Kawasaki's and IVIg? I am sure he will not be quite himself for awhile, but I want to make sure that this is normal. How long should I expect this to last?

By the way, this has been the most frightening experience ever! Also, the ER doc was hesitant to admit it was Kawasakis. It took 8 hours for them to admit that they had been mistaken and that he indeed did need to be admitted and treated ASAP. He was being treated for scarlet fever, then they thought it was parvovirus and it was not until I demanded a blood test (where his inflammation levels were very elevated) that they believed me!!

Also, for those of you whose kids are later in the disease process, are your echos normal? He had a fever for 5 days before treatment but now I am on pins and needles that the echocardiograms will be abnormal.

Thanks for any and all help/advice!

I have zero experience with IVIg but wanted to let you know that our little guy broke his fever on Day 9 and has had perfectly healthy echos. Just a bit of hope :)

Hi
I wonder if you find some advice on this could you please pass it on to me.
My four year old girl got discharged from hospital four weeks ago. She had one dose of IVig and is currently on aspirin. She had been doing well but this week has got conjunctivis and is very pale. I wonder is this normal?
I spoke to a doctor who said to be careful re flu virus with concerns re Reye syndrome. Everyone in the house had colds and cough but she has no symptoms. It's niggling at me how pale she is.
Any advice appreciated
Cdol
