My daughter was just diagnosed with KD and spent 9 days in the hospital, 2 of them in ICU. She had two rounds of IVIG treatments and then 2 rounds of steroids. Her hemoglobin level dropped to a 7 and her red blood platelets went up to 1.7 million (This went up after she left the hospital). She is doing better know but is this common in KD? Also, she became severely dehydrated, her heart rate was elevated to between 150 and 180, and she had low blood pressure also. She may have a relapse since she had such an aggressive case.

Also, my daughter has rumination disorder. She is healthy but she has 2 rare childhood diseases. I was wondering if anyone had any advice on what speicialist we should see? As of right now, her autoimmune doctor is ruling out out an autoimmune disease (two came back postivie) because she was tested after the IVIG treatment. We will see him in a few months for a follow up to retest but shows not symptoms of AI diseases. We are also seeing a GI doctor, Blood Doctor, Infectious Disease Doctor....Cardiologist....even an eye doctor

Before she was diagnosed with KD, they though she had scarlet fever (no strep test was run because all syptoms were all present) and she had a double ear infection too.

Lastly, I read that carpet clearning could be an environmental trigger for KD. We steamed cleaned our carpets and she got sick shortly after.

A pediatric cardiologist should be following your daughter for Kawasaki Disease.

The "carpet cleaning" theory of KD was ruled out by KD researchers many years ago.

That is great to hear about carpet cleaner...I forgot to add the cardo doctor too::)....she is also seeing an eye doctor as well....
