Long term behavioural problems after Kawasaki?

Postby coralierootes » Sat Feb 27, 2016 3:05 am

Hi,
I am after any information anyone might have in regards to behaviour issues after Kawasaki?
My son is 4 in March and had Kawasaki's in March 2013, luckily no aneurisms was found but continues to see the cardiologist to monitor as his heart is under sized (not sure if born that way or developed with Kawasaki...)
Since everything happened we have found him to have extremes of happy and angry, always irritable and the slightest of annoyance makes him mad.
He is very intelligent and particular in the things he does.
Any help would be highly appreciated. :):):):)

Hi there, my son was diagnosed with atypical Kawasaki disease at 10 months this past October. He stayed a week in the hospital where he was treated with one round of IVIG and started aspirin therapy on day 6. He hasn't shown any anyerisms or abnormalities in his heart at his cardio checkups and the Drs seem to think he's doing fine. He always seems to be sick now, every week it's something from a cold to rashes . I've noticed that he's been very moody since his illness he goes from happy to sad very quickly and gets very irritable too. He wakes up often at night and doesn't sleep well, he often cries out as if in pain but his dr can't find anything wrong. He's now 16 months and seems to be doing okay developmentally although he isn't as verbal as my older son was at his age. I just can't shake the feeling he's not the same since his illness, he's very clingy to me now and although he loves playing with other kids he will often throw tantrums for no explained reason and start crying. I'm just at a loss at what to do for him :(
