Hair loss after treatment?

Post by Fonotater »

My 14 year old daughter was diagnosed with Kawasaki’s disease a few months ago. She was given 2 rounds of IVIG and eventually had to be transferred to another hospital that had a Kawasaki expert on staff.
She developed a rare complication of the disease called Kawasaki Shock Syndrome. Given her age and the symptoms being out of order and kind of all over the place, I’m amazed they diagnosed it so quickly.
She was in critical condition for two weeks, then spent an additional 9 days in the hospital. All total she spent 27 days in the hospital.
She has been cleared for sports by her cardiologist and pediatrician. She just made the JV softball team last week.
Her hair is falling out. She has gorgeous curly long hair, it’s very thick. It’s falling out in patches. Has anybody else experienced this? Will it all fall out? Does it grow back?
Mahalo for any answers.

Sorry to hear that, Fonotater. Did her hair grow back?

She lost about 75% and it finally stopped. We had to cut it short but it’s growing back in finally.
