16 days in...

Post by zombiegirl83 »

Hi all.
First of all, let me start by saying I'm very sorry you and your babies all had to go through this. 16 days ago my son, who is 12, got very sick, he had a terrible rash and a fever. They diagnosed it as Scarlet Fever, and treated it as so. 11 days in, no real improvement. So I took him back to the doctor. They recommended I take him to the hospital, where they pretty much said the antibiotics weren't strong enough and changed them, as well as adding an upper respiratory infection to his diagnosis. Yesterday I decided to take him to his old pediatrician, who is an exceptional doctor, and who I only changed from because of someone else's more convenient hours. He is convinced he has KD. We go to Vanderbilt Children's Hospital on the morning for heart testing and all that. Reading up on it, I have to say, I'm pretty scared for him and really wishing it had just been Scarlet Fever. Especially since he is 16 days in... I have kept the fever under control, so I'm hoping that has kept him from permanent heart damage. Any advice for a very scared Mom who has never heard of KD before today, and who is really upset at the other doctors who didn't catch it? I need some encouragement right now to keep a happy face for my sweet boy.
