A few years ago there was a push to get KD recognized in every state during the week of Dr. Kawasaki's birthday - which I think was in the first week of October. It was started by a high school boy that had KD when he was little. His mother made drafts and they were sent to the states for a week of recognition. Some of the states sent back a proclamation with a seal from the state saying they had adopted the resolution. I believe it had something to do with a scholarship or some sort of incentive for the boy at school. After that it pretty much fell flat without any followup and the website they had wasn't monitored well, but it might still exist...not sure. The name was A Kawasaki Heart. There were several states that recognized it that year, but I haven't heard much about it since. I suppose you'd have to check with the state itself to see if the week was adopted for KD awareness or not. Come to think of it, it might have been a day in October.....we had called it KDAD (for Kawasaki Disease Awareness Day). Was it Oct 5th? I can't remember!
I JUST CHECKED IT OUT-IT WAS MAY 5th-so maybe there was a push for another date or week in October later by another group???????
