Re: 16 year old Heart Attack
JakesBigSis, I am so sorry to hear about your brother. And the short answer to your question is yes, there are people who have had KD that have had heart attacks. Just out of curiousity, so your brother had KD 8 years ago, in 2005? Was he diagnosed with KD and treated with IVIG back when he had KD o...

Re: KD on Grey's Anatomy - March 28, 2013
Don't forget to watch Greys Anatomy this Thursday night for the KD episode. Tell your friends and family, post about it on Facebook, get the word out. It could save a childs life. This is a great opportunity to bring Kawasaki Disease into the public eye. Go to http://www.kdfoundation.org to donate w...

Re: 3 month old IVIG resistant
Shelley, My son is 11 years post KD now. He had aneurysms on 3 of his coronary arteries after having KD. It took about 9 years for them to come back to what is considered "normal' size. He was on aspirin until he was 7. He still sees the cardiologist every year for an EKG and cardiac echo and he has...

Re: Need advice from parents who had a baby with KD & aneury
Hi, My son had KD at 6 weeks old and had aneurysms as a result. He was on aspirin also until he was 7. Fortunately we were in a position at the time where my wife did not work and she was able to stay home with him and we limited his exposure to others for the next 6 months. Because he had KD in Sep...

Re: 3 month old IVIG resistant
Shelley, Your story sounds very similiar to my sons. He was 6 weeks old when he had back in 2001. He was IVIG resistant and received 4 rounds IVIG and 2 of steriods before his fever came down to an acceptable level. He also went into heart failure because of fluid build up and had to be given a dieu...

Re: Aneurysm regression -I'm confused and scared
Littlebean, I can't give you medical advice as I am only a parent of a child who had KD but I can give you some of our experience which is similar to your own. That being said, every child is different and reacts differently to KD. My son was 6 weeks old when he had KD back in 2001. He ended up with...

Re: Health Complications Years After KD
I would give you the same advice that Marissa was given several years ago. Go see a cardiologist, preferably one that is familiar with KD if you can. Even people who had KD and did not have "complications" are now being advised to have regular cardiology visits. There is only a little research about...

Re: Question on permitted activities with KD
I think it was 7 years before they were considered within normal range again. So it was about 3 years ago.

Re: Question on permitted activities with KD
Hi, My son had KD at 6 weeks old and also had 3 aneurysms that have now come back within normal range after 10 years. His cardiologist had always wanted him to be active but he recommended that he not play contact sports where he could he hit by other players or hard objects in the chest. There are ...

Re: Long-term effects (Adults who have had KD)
Swimmergirl, My son is 10 years old now. He had KD when he was just 6 weeks old. He had the stress test last summer. They did an MRI of his heart and then injected the radioactive material. Then they had him ride an exercise bike while monitoring his heart and breathing at the same time. They had hi...

Re: Long-term effects (Adults who have had KD)
Since I am not a doctor I can't really say what type of test would be best, but the cardiologist would know what they want to do. I would guess that they would start with an EKG and then determine what other tests they wanted. I would think that eventually a stress test would be something you would ...
