H1N1 and Pulmonary Embolisms

Post by jonehogg » Wed Jan 20, 2010 2:20 am

Any suspected H1N1 admitted patient with respiratory insufficiency and no infiltrate or a CXR pattern C/W ARDS should have a PE protocol chest CT or MRA to multiple PE. There is still a lot clinically unknown about the H1N1 virus. I have seen nothing in the literature of the autopsy results of those who died "from" H1N1 to check for PE. For the Pediatric deaths secondary to H1N1 we need to know if there were multiple PE.PE deaths would be more likely in pregnant women.
