Re: Not so rare

My daughter was diagnosed in July of 2007, she was in the ICU for over a week and the ICU nurses (this is in a large metropolitan Childrens Hospital) said they see about 5 cases a month in their ICU. Now, the ER docs were a bit baffled by my daughter and her symptoms and I even had a ER nurse who wa...

Re: Does anyone have some good KD pictures??

I have some at least one of my daughter and it shows the redness about the eyes and the cracked lips. I think it is an excellent KD photo if you want it, please email me at lisalouver@comcast.net and I will figure a way to get a copy to you.

Re: John Travolta's son

I had posted about Jett Travolta a year or so ago and how upsetting it was to me as a mother of a KD survivor that the Travolta's state that their sons disabilities are all related to KD when it is clear to me anyway that Jett was autistic. In the few pictures that have been released of Jett, he is ...

Re: Maya's story

Hi Ria, I just wanted to say hello and let you know that you are not alone. My daughter was diagnosed at the age of 3 this past summer in July of 2007. Luckily, I was very persistant and my daughter was admitted on day 4 of her illness. I will tell you most of the doctors told me it was just a virus...

Re: Emily 12 mths diagnosed @ 10mths

I agree with Nancy on all counts. Number one right now is getting her an Echo and having her seen by a peds cardio doc. This needs to be done without delay. If you can not get in wherever you were trying because of something to do with a referral, then Nancy is correct. Go to an ER. They have echos ...

Re: health issues long past KD

kdvader3, Thank you for your comment. I suspect a lot of cases were treated like yours back then with no IVIG treatment and even (in your case) not hospitalized. That right there is a lead in for future problems with KD. No follow up with a cardio doc until your teens. I think todays KD kids have a ...

Re: health issues long past KD

I'm just curious as to those who posted that they are adults now and had KD as a child, what course did your KD take? Did you get the IVIG and the aspirin, was it diagnosed early or late? How long were you in the hospital? Were you told your echos were normal post-diagnosis? It would help to know mo...

Re: Jake's Nightmare

Tara, Very sad story. I am afraid that it seems to be getting more common. My daughter was diagnosed at the age of three in July of 2007. I was told at 4 visits to the ER that she had "a virus" over and over. When I finally found KD on the internet on the 4th day of fever, lethargy, no eating, drink...

Re: post care

Nancy, I agree with you here. My daughter was three in July of 2007 when she was diagnosed. After more than 3 weeks (over a week in PICU) we went home and all of her docs, her pediatrician, cardiologist and ID doc said the same thing. She may return to all normal activities. Once we had the final ec...

Re: What are the odds?

YAY! Carter should be home by now. I hope you check in and let us know how you all are settleing in! Don't be surprised now if he is tired and cranky for some time. My daughter was and it seems to be the "norm" around here (if there is one!) I think it lasted about 2-3 months for Sophie. She also ha...

Re: Pic Austin KD 12/12/07

Hey Holly,

GREAT news! I know how good that must feel! I too, was told my daughter had a slight murmer, but I do too. The cardio doc also said nothing to worry about.

I am so glad to hear all went well!!

God Bless your family,

Re: What are the odds?

About the amount of time a KD child is in the hospital, I think it varies greatly.

My daughter was in over three weeks. She spent a week in the PICU alone.

Hopefully, Carter will not be in that long!

Will continue to send good thoughts your way!
