Re: 6 Month Old at Diagnosis - Needs Advice - Safety on Love

Hi Wendy, I am so sorry that you and your son are going through this! My son also has aneurysms as a result of having had KD. He was almost three when he got KD, so we were already past the crawling and learning to walk stage. He is now five years old and is on Lovenox, ASA and Plavix. I am not sure...

Re: KD and my daughters treatment

Hi there, First off, I am sorry you and your daughter are going through all of this right now. I have been there and I know how hard it is to watch your little one be subjected to so much. My son required two rounds of IVIG and two rounds of pulse steroids in order for his fever to stay away fully. ...

Re: Fever after 5 months since IVIG treatment

Hi there, It's definitely tough having a post-KD kid with a fever. It always immediately takes you back to when they had KD. I would definitely keep a close eye on your son and watch for any other KD symptoms. I agree with mwjohn5 that you should always follow your gut. You know your child better th...

Re: 6 days of symptoms, living in a 3rd world country

Hi Lynn, I am so sorry you and your son are going through this. Many of the symptoms you described are those of children with Kawasaki disease, but are also similar to some other childhood illnesses. Is there any way you can get your son to a medical facility that will be able to run some blood test...

Re: Paige update - future surgery

Hi Sandy, I am glad that you have found a team a specialist to do Paige's surgery. I know it is scary, but you and Paige are strong and will get through this. You have been coping with this for so long now. Hopefully the surgery will give all of you some peace of mind. Please keep us posted. Praying...

Re: Regression!

That's great. I am sure you and he are glad to be rid of the Lovenox injections. Lately I have read some negative articles regarding Plavix, so the ASA is probably the better option.

Re: Regression!

That's great news! I am so happy for you and your family. I wish your son only good health from now on! Out of curiosity, did they take away the ASA or the Lovenox?

Re: Rash return days after IVIG?

Hi there. My son did not experience any rash flare ups soon after being treated, however he did have days where his temperature would fluctuate and I was told that was to be expected. I would recommend that you definitely keep an eye on the rash and watch for any other symptoms, especially fever. Th...

Re: PLEASE HELP!

There is no definitive blood test for Kawasaki disease. However, some of the things that are often mentioned that can point to Kawasaki disease are CRP, ESR and platelet count (http://www.lpch.org/DiseaseHealthInfo/HealthLibrary/cardiac/kawasaki.html). These are indicators of inflammation, so keep i...

Re: PLEASE HELP!

I think you should take her back to the hospital, preferably a pediatric hospital if possible. Since, KD is primarily a childhood disease, it may be missed at a regular hospital. Make sure you document all of the fevers and symptoms, so you are armed with all the proper information when you are ther...

Hi Michelle, I am in a bit of a rush tonight, as my son has a procedure scheduled very early tomorrow morning, but I wanted to give you some quick info: My son's fever went away after his first round of IVIG, but returned at the 23 hour mark, so he was administered a second round, followed by two ro...
