Re: Bone density test for child on Lovenox

Hello Mike's Mom: Thank you so very much for your response. Your information has confirmed my thoughts on insisting that our daughter's bone density gets tested. Did you give your son Vitamin D supplements at any time to help him absorb the calcium he was consuming? We have been giving our daughter ...

Bone density test for child on Lovenox

For those with a child on Lovenox or who has taken Lovenox - has your child had a bone density test? Our daughter is 14 months old now and has been on Lovenox for one year. I'm wondering if this is something that should be checked on soon. I've mentioned it to our doctor months back, he was not conc...

Re: No Diagnosis yet

I would suggest they do an echo to check your daughter's heart. Our daughter's high temperature dropped after day 5. She also tested positive for strep. She was younger than your daughter (just two months old). The younger the child the more atypical the symptoms can be. So please do not let them ru...

Re: Asprin and Reye's Syndrome

It is my understanding that the nasal-spray flu vaccine is live. But that as a shot it is not live. Our daughter did receive the flu vaccine (as a shot) while on low dose aspirin. We have been advised to give her the chickenpox vaccination 11 months after receiving IVIG. She will be 14 months old at...

Re: Asprin and Reye's Syndrome

Our daughter just turned one and is on low dose aspirin for KD at 8 weeks old. We are VERY careful about exposing her to others for fear of exposure to the flu or chickenpox. Her doctors insisted she, my husband and myself all get the flu shot. We were not very excited at all about this but did agre...

Re: Can it be KD if fever goes away on day 5?

I would insist on an echo and insist on follow up protocol for KD. I am not a doctor but I am the parent of a very young baby girl who has major damage to her coronary arteries because he doctor insisted it was not KD because her fever went down after day 5. She did not receive IVIG till day 14. KD ...

Insuflon catheter for Lovenox?

Our daughter is 8 months old now, she was 2 months old when diagnosed/treated for KD. We have been giving her twice daily Lovenox injections since being treated. We are discussing with her team of doctors the use of an insuflon catheter (port) for administering her Lovenox to alleviate so many pokes...

Re: Thought my son might of had Kawasaki. Concerned again..

I don't want to be alarming, but I am just sharing our experience in case your son does have KD too that it get treated. Hopefully he does not. Our daughter's finger tips began peeling on day 6 of illness. She was in the PICU at this time, I questioned her doctors several times and they insisted it ...

Re: Thought my son might of had Kawasaki. Concerned again..

I am not a doctor but I am the parent of a child who had KD and her diagnosis was delayed in a similar type circumstance as how your experience is unfolding. She had a clear echo on day 5, and the rash and fever were improving at that time too. Unfortunately it really was KD and she was not treated ...

Re: Post KD diet?

Our daughter is 6 months old. She is 4 months post KD. We give her Nordic Naturals Baby's DHA with Vitamin D3. It's made from 100% Arctic Cod Livers. The box says it's suggested usage is for infants up to 35lbs.
