36 years after KD and 3 years after CABG

Here is the link to my original post: http://www.kdforum.org/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=2162 (33 years after KD, My Husband's Story). Long story short, my husband had KD in 1978 and was diagnosed but untreated due to lack of treatment at the time. No one knew that he had 3 major aneurysms in his heart at t...

Re: 33 years after KD, My Husband's Story

I know my husband is one of the few older survivors (he is now 36), so we feel like pioneers at times dealing with some of the long term affects of untreated KD. Just curious if anyone who had bypass had unexpected heart related complications within the 3-5 year range after the bypass? Thank you in ...

Re: 30 years later....

I am not sure if you were treated for KD or just diagnosed. If you were not treated or monitored by a cardiologist, I HIGHLY recommend making an appointment with a cardiologist. My husband had KD at 9 months old in 1978 and was never treated or monitored (just diagnosed). They didn't know what to do...

Re: 46 year old survivor

Hello, First of all, thank you for sharing your story. My husband had Kawasaki Disease at the age of 9 months back in 1978. He was one of the few cases diagnosed in the US at the time--however, the doctor's didn't know what to do with him so they just took spinal taps until his mom got frustrated an...

Re: I had KD 30 years ago

My husband who is now 35 had to have triple bypass open heart surgery in 2010 (he was 33) due to damage done from KD. He was one of the first cases in the nation and they did not know how to treat it then. I am linking the story I posted here: http://www.kdforum.org/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=2162&hilit=hu...

Re: Later in Life? I had KD

My husband who is now 34 had Kawasaki Disease at 9 mos. old in 1978. He was one of only 7 cases at the time. They did nothing for him other than take spinal taps and monitor his condition. He had the classic symptoms, including at fever of over 107 for more than 10 days. It was awful. Because it was...

New research on KD and wind currents

I'm not sure that at this point that this article is incredibly helpful, however I did find it encouraging that research is being done, and that it may lead to further discoveries of the cause and possible prevention of the disease. http://scrippsnews.ucsd.edu/Releases/?releaseID=1211 :: SCRIPPS OCE...

Re: 33 years after KD, My Husband's Story

I just wanted to post an update. My husband is now 2 months post surgery (triple bypass). The surgeon spoke to me after the bypass and said that the damage was caused by Kawasaki Disease and that he probably had less than a year left before his other two arteries closed up and would have likely had ...

Re: Ericka KD - 17 Years Later

I hope all is well with her. You might read my husbands story (33 years after KD). He is currently recovering from a triple bypass surgery yesterday due to long term complications of KD. The way the surgeon explained it to me is that KD attacks the elasticity of the arteries. It may or may not cause...

Re: 33 years after KD, My Husband's Story

Thank you for your reply. When my husband was having the chest pain we did not tell the first few doctors that he had KD as that was not really on our mind either. His KD happened so long ago, and we really did not know that much about it. It was just a fluke that I remembered when I did. Our main p...

Re: Chest Pains?

Please, please, please! If you are having chest pains and experienced KD you really need to find a cardiologist who will take you seriously. Be sure to mention the KD and if necessary, have them consult with a pediatric cardiologist (since they seem to understand the complications better). My husban...

33 years after KD, My Husband's Story

Let me start with a little history: My husband was diagnosed with Kawasaki Disease when he was 9 months old. This was in 1978 and at that time they knew very little about the disease. I don’t remember at exactly what point in our relationship he told me he went through KD, it might have been when ...
