Re: Is there a guideline for follow up care after KD?

Mag, can you get to ACH? You might see if it's worth it for you based on the risk stratification in the AHA guideline. Ours had one at diagnosis, at 8 wks, at one year, now every 3 years.

What province are you in? You could reasonably ask for a 1 yr echo and then head into every few years. I would print off the Newburger et al 2004 paper when you ask for that echo.

Let your child be your guide. There are so many stories here and the only common thread I noticed was how different everyone's child was once home again. Best wishes to you and yours.

Re: Incomplete KD in an eldery man

Unsure if copying the abstract is legal where I am, but if someone else would like to, that'd be great. My jaw dropped a little when I read this last year, and I do believe I wanted to eat a large piece of humble pie. What is going on here?!

Re: my 6yr old daughter over the last year....please read

I think you can download a copy of the AHA guideline for followup. Ours had an echo at diagnosis, 6 wks later, 1 year later, then every 3 yrs is the plan. I'm pretty sure the guideline is every 3 yrs for followup?

Every 3 years. We're just beginning to learn what happens with these kids that have normal echos early on. I would press for every 3 years and take the guideline with you.

Thanks for sharing. It also took a refusal on my part to leave the hospital with our son until they figured out what wasn't right. Good for you.

Dairy might be the cause of ear troubles. Worthy of asking your doc about it at least.

If I were in your shoes, I would be logging his temperature every evening with a thermometer. See rheumatologist and take that log with you. I'm not a doctor, and only offer this advice as a parent.

Re: Appendectomy before KD diagnosis - anyone else

Didn't progress as far as surgery, but my DS presented like appendicitis, too. Abdominal distention also present, naturally since his internal organs were inflammed. It was the acuity of a young ER physician who finally nailed it after several days and after a series of classic signs one after anoth...

Re: Other Illnesses Post KD

Ditto, the 2 years post-KD seemed like nonstop illness. Really, one thing after another and our child was cared for at home, so no exposure to a daycare setting. This is the 3rd year and we notice fewer illnesses, still severe when they come. A cold turns into a respiratory crisis in just a few days...
