Re: KD diagnosis without fever?

I am only a mom, but I have dealt with extensive coughing with two of my kids - one being my KD kid (now ages 9 and 7). They both were diagnosed with asthma at a very young age (KD son hospitalized at 9 weeks for wheezing, other kid was even tested in the ER for whooping cough following repeated non...

Re: CAVITIES

I have identical twins - one had KD, one did not. My KD son had a high fever (103+) for well over a week with KD. The KD twin has not had a significant higher amount of cavities than his twin. They are approx equal in the dentist dept. Also, they both have had their fair share of antibotics (lots of...

Re: Help! Can symptoms come and go?

I am only a mom, not an expert at all. My son had KD 2 1/2 years ago. He had a high fever until day 5 or 6 as well, along with other symptoms. The doctors also mentioned KD at that time. However, they had given him IV steroids (because he was hospitalized), which I believe made the fever go away, an...

Re: please help ?kawasaki boy 5 years

My son didn't receive treatment until day 13 (IVIG and aspirin). He didn't have any complications and is a healthy/active child 2 1/2 years later.

Re: Concerned about 8 mo. old around best friend's son with

if you read this clearly you would see the kid had KD several weeks before they were planning on going on their trip. Most viral or bacterial infections would have cleared up. Yes I'm only a mom and not a doctor (nor am I married to one!). BUT I have not heard of anyone with KD to be kept in isolati...

Re: Concerned about 8 mo. old around best friend's son with

I know this is past - but no, you do not need to worry. My son has an identical twin and another sibling and they were together before, during and after KD. If someone was vulnurable to getting KD, it would have been his id twin...and he did not get sick. I hope you had a nice getaway :)

Hep A vaccine

Hello everyone, My son had KD just over 2 years ago. He just went to a well child check up and they sprung the Hep A vaccine on us. They told me it was only recently recommended. I denied it, not knowing much about it. I understand what Hep A is, however, is the vaccine necessary? The ped told me pe...

Re: Pink eyes

I also agree that KD kids should have an eye exam. Having red/inflammed eyes for multiple days could cause damage. I feel a lot better since he had his eyes checked. My KD son does not have any allergies or skin problems. However, he does have asthma, which is controlled with an inhaler. My other ki...

Re: My son has kawasaki and were still in hospital after 2 w

I am so sorry to hear about your son. My son could have been treated on time too (they mentioned KD on day 5 or 6), but he didn't get IVIG until day 13. We were also initially followed by an ENT, but he quit his service because "he didn't know what else to do" (NOT what you want to hear). The hospit...

Re: Pink eyes

KCLP, Yes I took him to a pediatric Opthamologist. He did not mention anything about swelling. The only thing he told us could be a problem would be if his eyes got "stuck". He told me to call his office if it happens. However, if my son's eyes get "stuck", I think I would take him to the ER and the...

Re: Pink eyes

I just took my son to the eye doc for an exam. He had KD almost 2 years ago (March). I mentioned to him that my son gets red eyes often since KD especially when he is tired or ill. He told me not to worry...only if they stay red for more than a couple of days.

Re: HELP PLEASE -- WERE YOU ADVISED TO KEEP YOUR CHILDREN HO

No, we were not told to keep our child home or away from anyone. My other children continued to go to school and brought home who knows what germs. I always had them wash their hands when they got home, but nothing else (such as changing their clothes). My son returned to preschool several weeks aft...

Re: Possible Diagnosis with KD?

Glad to hear things are better :) Atypical is also called incomplete - in fact, our ped cardiologist doesn't call it atypical. My son's rash was not very exciting - light pink, small bumps close together all over his back and front torso - sort of like an allergic reaction, not a sunburn at all. It ...
