Re: questions- being referred to ped. rheumatologist

So Friday the ped. took one look at Jay and got on the phone with the children's hospital in Atlanta and told them she was sending a patient to be admitted with Kawasaki and to be ready for us. Get up there and they sent us thru triage in ER and said he had a strep throat rash and sent us back home....

Now he has been running fever since Wed. and today his feet hurt and are red and itchy, his palms are bright red and swollen, and has a rash on his back and torso. Going to the Ped. this afternoon...

Re: questions- being referred to ped. rheumatologist

Thanks for asking about Jay. I don't get on here very often. He recovered fine from his last weird episode. Hasn't been sick since then until yesterday. Complained of headache all day and his leg hurting. Ran a low 99.3 temp all day, then shot up to 103.6 last night. It is back down to 99.2 today. F...

Re: questions- being referred to ped. rheumatologist

Thanks hppygolucky. It is weird that Jay rarely complains of being in pain. He will wake up a few times and say his legs hurt, but that is about all. Weird things going on this week though. His legs hurt on thursday and both of his eyes were red on the inside corners. Then that night he had a 100.8 ...

questions- being referred to ped. rheumatologist

Took Jay for his six year check up Friday and she wants to send him to a pediatric rheumatologist (sp?). she said it is way too odd for him to have all these issues going on all the time. He was just cleared by the cardiologist the week before for his second case of KD in August. I know some of you ...

Re: Peri-natal exposure?

Very interesting. I was four months shy of being 35 years old when my son was born, I was born overseas on a military base in Germany, and I did test positive for group B strep with my first child, not with him though. But I did have fifth disease when I was six weeks pregnant with him.

Re: finally diagnosed after 5 weeks

Sorry I have not responded! It has been crazy around here since my 16 year old started working part-time at a daycare. She caught a stomach bug which landed her in the ER because she passes out and has seizures when she get dehydrated, and now my 3 year old has it. Been busy sanitizing and staying u...

some sweet humor in all this

Jay was asking the technician all kinds of questions Friday during his echo. when she got out the ultrasound device thing, he asked her what it was. she said it was a camera to look at his heart. He asked her what she was putting on it. She said it was jelly to help the camera take a better picture....

finally diagnosed after 5 weeks

If you have not seen any of my previous posts, my son was diagnosed with KD in July 2008. Then this August while on vacation he started having same symptoms of red lips, very high fevers (105), swollen lymph node, feet hurt, rash, red eyes. Could not get diagnosed at Egleston Children's Hospital aft...

Re: Please offer advice.

Same problem I have just had. Son had every physical symptom, and elevated platelets and peeling at two weeks, but SED rate of 20 was not high enough for the Dr. Five weeks out his is still peeling. Stick with your mother instincts and keep pushing for answers until there is nothing else you can do.

Re: PFAPA diagnosis but SOMETHING else is happening

I am right there with you going thru the same thing! My son had KD two years ago, and four weeks ago on vacation began running high temps 102-105 with rash, swollen lymph node, red lips. I kept taking him to doctors telling them it looked exactly like his KD. Everyone says no, because he doesn't mee...

Re: now peeling, no diagnosis, please see pics

Cannot believe the things I have been told by doctors at the leading Children's Hospital in Atlanta!! The good news is that they are going to give him the follow-up treatment he needs (follow-up echo, aspirin therapy) but they will not admit he had a second case of Kawasaki, probably because if they...
